Structuring Your Articles

Structuring Your Articles and Choosing the Ideal Keywords for the Content

When you finish categorizing the relevant questions into informational and transactional, you will have all the information that you require to create your article. However, you should never rush at this stage due to excitement. Often, websites lose visitors and the trust of their customers by failing to create content that is easy to navigate and read. If your article is not organized, most people will give up before they find their answers. In addition, if your article focuses on only the aspects that will bring you transactional profit, you will lose their trust. Basically, they will assume that you are only after sales as opposed to providing valuable information.

How to Create the Ideal Structure

Therefore, if you want to achieve great results, you should first organize your questions. Following the right structure will help you create an article which is organized and easy to follow. In simple terms, if your questions have a logical flow, you will be able to move from one element of the topic to another without creating confusion. This will make the content easy to follow, regardless of the knowledge level of the reader. Also, always start with the broad queries and then diverge into the more specific elements for easy reading and understanding.

In general, it is advisable to create your article structure by placing the informational questions first. This is a crucial tool in gaining your potential customer’s trust. As mentioned above, people are suspicious of transactional information because they will see you as a salesman instead of an authority on the pertinent subject. By answering questions and providing relevant information at the beginning, the site visitor will view you as a knowledgeable entity.

However, this does not mean that you should neglect your business and fail to advertise. You just need to be tactful such that the potential customer does not feel that you have any other motive other than providing help. Therefore, in your article structure outline, pair your informational questions with some transactional ones. This combination must be natural and logical. For example, the informational question can be ‘how do I solve this problem?’ You can pair this with a transactional question such as ‘where do I find this solution for this problem’. This will give an opportunity to introduce your services or products.

In some cases, you will not be able to pair informational and transactional questions naturally because the relationship cannot always be direct. Do not force a connection. Instead, organize the queries such that the informational ones are at the top while the transactional are below. In the article, this structure will allow you to provide information on the topic. Below that, you can explain how your solutions such as products or services relate to the topic.

Keyword Research

Good keyword choice is essential for topical optimization of the content. While Hummingbird can now understand context and intent, you want to perform proper keyword research so that you will be able to include the right terms in your article. This process should be conducted before writing the actual article so that the keywords will be incorporated in a natural way.

Instead of taking a guess, you should use analyzer tools to help you find the best keywords for your content. Choosing randomly might bear some results since there are obvious search terms that you expect potential customers to use. However, when you use professional tools, you will get ratings in terms of search volume and even relevance. Consequently, you will be able to make your decision clearly.

You should note that there are no restrictions on the number of keywords that you can include in your content. However, you should be able to make them fit into your article coherently. After all, people will read the content and judge your company based on it.

Keyword Density

In addition, ensure that the keyword density for each of the selected terms or phrases remains is between 0.5% and 2.5%.

Keyword density refers to the amount of times you mention your desired keyword, if you over do this it will read poorly and definitely not help your standing in the search engines.

  • If you have 100 words of text and you mention your keyword 1 time, thats 1% keyword density.
  • If you have 200 words and mention your keyword 1 time thats 0.5% keyword density.
  • If you have 400 words and mention your keyword 1 time thats 0.25% keyword density.

Plan this wisely but ensure that you content is written first for the reader – then for the search engines!
